Day 37 – Rope or Wreck?

‘For many people, once pornography sinks its hooks into us, we forever feel the draw of it.  It is like a compulsion, a disease in our blood that never seems to go away.’                                                                                                                                                  (Covenant Eyes)
Another day for which I thank God that pornography and sin has been averted.  Yet at night, whilst my dreams and thoughts are not my own, I find I am enjoying visions of adventures of cross-dressing.  Not sexual in any way but still very alluring and when I awake…something to counter immediately.
As my confessor continues to reassure me – dreams are outside of my control.  Whether they give me enjoyment or not – I am not to worry!  However, he cautions me, if I seek to recount my dreams when awake then sin is never far away.

My Conclusion:
Day 37 is all about understanding what method of ‘control’ or accountability suits you best.  It uses the analogy of the sirens in Greek Mythology to demonstrate two different ways to overcome temptation.
We either need to be bound to the mast as was Odysseus or to be overcome by a ‘greater music’ as was Jason and his crew…

I am definitely a ‘bind to the mast’ man!!!
