Day 29 – Self Analysis

Today is a great day for reflection.  It is cloudy outside and cold.  So now is a great time to challenge yourself…
Many self help groups have a questionnaire to help you recognise your ‘undesirable’ attributes.  In catholic circles we much prefer to see these as ‘failings’ in our virtues. 🙂
However you come about this journey of self discovery it is vitally important you complete it.  Understanding our addiction is as much about understanding the entirety of ourselves as any one fault we have.  I think sometimes, as addicts, we focus entirely on what is wrong and fail to applaud ALL that is right.  We have so many desirable virtues that it is vital not to lose sight of it – we are good men too.
Having looked at today’s challenge it is clear that I need to put together a relevant questionnaire for Men of Hope.  One that has a strong traditional focus and can be used in early 1:1 cryptchat meetings.  So watch this space.

My Conclusion:
I think the accountability process suits the US culture much more than ours.  Our ‘stereotypical’ reserve and pride causes many of us to avoid any direct contact with our faults – especially with somebody else present!  However, this day does  provide a link to their questionnaire and I challenge you to look it over…

I continue to pray and donate these offerings to the Fellowship as I hope you will too?
Yours in Jesus, Mary & Joseph
