Day 22 – In God’s Company

Just a quick few lines today to remind you about the responsibility we hold to ourselves and our families.  We have been blessed to be part of the catholic church – in union with God.  We know for a fact that God sees everything.  That is why we can be certain he is a forgiving and loving Father.
As I look at my children I realise that my example to them needs to be just as strong – all of the time.  Whether they like to admit it or not they look to me as an example, a role model and as someone who loves and forgives them everything.  Nothing is beyond my forgiveness and they know that.
So why do we find it so hard to believe that God can always forgive us?  Love and forgiveness have absolutely nothing to do with someone’s personal responsibility, culpability or recklessness.  All forgiveness needs is someone to be ‘sorry’.
The devil uses our fragility to help us believe we our beyond forgiveness.  The images of pornography are deliberately: vile, violent, sexually explicit and in opposition to God’s natural order.  Why wouldn’t you feel abhorrent and beyond saving.  So it is natural that we tell ourselves that we are beyond redemption – we despair.
The next time you tell yourself that – think of a family member.  Would you truly deny them forgiveness if you knew they desperately wanted it – despite their offences.  You may still scold them, they may still require punishment, but if you are truly of one family – you will continue to love  and pray for them…
As God does.

My Conclusion:
Day 22 puts us firmly in God’s company.  It is too easy to forget that when we sin sexually we are always in His presence and always in His church.
